The Lonely Horse Band was an idea conceived at the 2006 Tamworth Country Music Festival by Andrew Hull, Tonchi McIntosh and Mick Daley. They quickly formed a loose collaboration intent on producing more original music relevant to the ‘One Horse Towns’ of Western NSW. A few beers later and the Lonely Horse Band was formed.

All three artists had a lot of goodwill invested in the Bi-Annual Nymagee outback Music Festival. This community then became the focus for the ‘Living Memory’ project which, after securing some funding from the CASP program, conducted three days of interviews and songwriting workshops in the village, resulting in the ‘Pomegranates and Peppercorn trees Album’

Two years later they repeated the process with the social benchmark ‘UNDERGROUND – A Living History of White Cliffs’. This year the trio are working with the Dorrigo community to tell their story – The Lonely Horse Band – Coming to a small town near you ! !

‘Tonchi McIntosh grew up in Bourke and has Mexican blood running through his veins on his Mother’s side. He sings, his voice full of warmth and emotion, of Australia with a clear-sighted passion for the land and its traditional owners, moving from acoustic folk/rock to electric and touches of reggae and country. This mixture of musical forms enfolds his lyricism, and one of his strengths is the meshing of imagery, be it allegorical or as raw and rich as the red earth of the outback”.

Tonchi McIntosh:

Melbourne based Singer/songwriter.

Recently supporting Michelle Shocked (US), Dick Goughan (SCO), Rory
McLeod (UK), Bruce Cockburn (CAN), Chris Smithers (US), James Keelahan
(CAN), Peggy Seeger (UK) and performing at the Great Victorian Bike
Ride, Walmadany Concert for Heritage in Broome, Woodford, Canberra
National, Port Fairy, Apollo Bay, Blue Mountains, Illawarra, Tamworth,
Georgetown (TAS), Billyana and Brunswick Music / Folk Festivals.

He is booked to perform at this-years Nanga Folk Festival and the 2010
Fairbridge Festival W.A., recently returning from Broome where he played the Diver’s Tavern at Cable Beach, and the Pearl Luggers with the Pigram Brothers.
